关于道布森先生明年非常想来中国的消息.

Please help me. I am currently working on John’s schedule for the spring, he really wants to come to China and since we have failed in getting a sponsor, he is willing to pay his own travel expenses. BUT – I still don’t have anyone to host him. Would any or some of you be willing to host Mr. Dobson in April
2008?
1-time. I have all of April available, he can stay for 1 week or the whole month depending on what you want.
2-Lodging. He was a monk, he likes to stay with people in their homes, however modest and doesn’t like to go to hotels. He eats very simply and eats most things except junk. He’s in good health, he walks, does stairs, all that.
3-He’s willing to talk to as many people on as many occasions as you want. He likes to stay busy.
4-Most of you are in Beijing, he can stay there or travel to other places in China, its up to you. If he does have to travel on trains or something, I think someone should go with him
5-The Sidewalk Astronomers/John are taking care of the flights to/from China, if there is travel within China or other expenses, please let me know and I’ll figure out how we can handle it.
As you probably know, John was born in Beijing and hasn’t been back since he was 12. Since I started doing his schedule in 2000, I have managed to get him speaking engagements in New Zealand/Australia (3 times), United Kingdom (2 times), Ireland, Germany, Italy, Russia (3 times), Chile, Canada, and the Philippines, and we’ve turned down several other countries because of scheduling conflicts, but I haven’t been able to work out anything in China – the one place he wants to go. Usually clubs pay travel and a speaking fee, but I just need someone to coordinate his events and house/feed him. Please feel free to pass this on to other people or organizations you think might be interested.
Thank you so much for your help and also, in case you’re thinking I’m really unreliable because I haven’t sent out the booklet/newsletter about ISAN, I just got so much data and articles, photos, etc. managing it has been a real task. I have redone the website, the booklet is finished and been sent to a couple of other members for editorial comments and will be posted on a temporary website for viewing before printing, and we are moving forward on several other projects (plus I have a REAL job…).

大体的意思就是他老先生出生在北京,但是12岁之后就再也没有回到中国.于是他非常希望明年4月可以完成他的愿望.他非常希望与众多的爱好者交流.但是他的计划却因为中国方面没有人接待而无法如愿.即使他愿意自掏腰包.(通常他去世界其他地方,都有组织为其旅行与讲座支付费用)
1.时间方面.整个4月都有空.他可以待一周,也可以是一个月,行程安排都取决于中国方面的接待人.
2.住宿,他喜欢住别人家里,吃住简单.身体也健康.但是不喜欢住旅馆.
3.他主要想来北京,但是也可以去其他城市.
4.美国方面负责来回飞机,但是如果在中国国内还有其他费用的话,需要通知对方.
以上就是主要的内容.
美国方面的态度很诚恳,甚至有些谦卑了.他们的态度是真诚的.我相信国内也会有很多爱好者愿意见到这位与中国有缘的传奇老人,至少我是这样的.甚至还有不少人很愿意作为中国方面的负责人来接待道老先生.
但是这个问题也有难办的地方.
1.他似乎没有美国方面的人陪同前来?
2.他喜欢住在别人家里(这可能比他喜欢住旅馆更难办,要接待他,就必须能够照顾好他,还要家里有条件,还有空余时间多,还要英文不错......)
3.虽然他身体很好,但是毕竟是90多岁的人了.长途旅行是否容易,是否可能发生意外.
总之,要照顾他老人家.要非常的费心思,还要能够承担责任.或许不少组织就是因为这个考虑才迟疑不前的吧.
但是他们已经开始往象我这样的大学生个人爱好者求助了.确实让我感觉有点过意不去了.一方面是人家的热情,一方面是我们冷淡的回应.人家不是无奈,相信不会出此下策.
我非常希望他老人家能圆他的愿望,也非常希望他能够平安.能够快乐.
所以发这个帖子,希望大家多出出注意.想个合适的办法帮道老完成中国之行.
